What post-industrial repro actually means
Post-industrial repro — PIR — is resin made from clean factory material that never reached a consumer: unused, off-spec, and surplus film rolls taken directly from converters and packaging manufacturers. It is scrap only in the sense that the plant that made it could not sell it.
Because it never entered the consumer waste stream, PIR arrives essentially free of dirt, moisture, and foreign matter. That buys you a cleaner, more predictable pellet than post-consumer material — tighter MFI, fewer gels, less odour — and it is usually the grade converters start with when they are trialling recycled content on a demanding line. If you need recycled content that counts toward a brand target instead, look at our PCR grades.
How we make it
This grade runs exclusively on clean industrial roll stock — unused, off-spec, and surplus film taken straight from converters and packaging manufacturers. Because the material is already clean coming in, it does not need the aggressive multi-stage treatment post-consumer film requires.
That lets us run a controlled single-pass extrusion line with single-stage filtration at 100 mesh and vacuum degassing, which pulls residual moisture, entrained air, and volatiles out of the melt for a low-odour, low-gel pellet. Rolls are resin-identified and inspected on intake, clear stock runs segregated to protect clarity, and every lot is sampled and MFI-verified before it ships.
Where it runs
- Blown and cast film
- Liner and mill wrap
- Poly bags and sheeting
- Lines that need a low-gel, predictable pellet

What LDPE Clear PIR looks like

Why buy from us
We are the processor
Not a broker. We run our own line in Langley, BC, so you are buying
from the people who made the pellet and can tell you exactly how it was made.
Samples before orders
Every grade goes out as a free sample first. Run it on your line and judge it on what it
does, not on a spec sheet.
Volume you can plan around
Up to 620,000 lbs a month across our four grades, shipped across Canada and into the
United States in gaylords or 1,000 kg bulk bags.
LDPE Clear PIR questions
- What is the difference between PIR and PCR?
- PIR is post-industrial repro, made from clean factory scrap and off-spec rolls that never reached a consumer. PCR is post-consumer repro, recovered after consumer use. PIR runs cleaner and more predictably; PCR is what counts toward recycled-content targets.
- Why is PIR cleaner than PCR?
- The feedstock never entered the consumer waste stream, so it arrives without dirt, moisture, or foreign matter. That means fewer gels, less odour, and tighter melt flow in the finished pellet.
- What melt flow index is this clear PIR grade?
- 0.60 to 0.75 g/10 min at 190 °C / 2160 g, with a density of 0.921 g/cm³. It may contain LLDPE or slip additive, depending on the roll stock.
- Can I get a sample before ordering?
- Yes, free. Run it on your line and tell us what it does before you commit.
- How much clear PIR can you supply?
- 60,000 lbs a month. Our colour PIR grade runs to 300,000 lbs a month if volume is the priority.
